Demis Ioannou is a PhD Candidate and holder of four degrees. He has a high level of expertise in tax law, with particular emphasis on international tax law. His academic career is crowned by his MSc in Taxation from the University of Oxford, as well as a top distinction of academic excellence in the United Kingdom. He is distinguished for his strategic acumen and his ability to manage extremely complex issues. His methodological approach focuses on the systemic structuring of analytical frameworks (framework building), a skill he cultivated by studying and writing for almost seven years alongside a world-renowned professor in the United Kingdom. Through this approach, he bridges doctrinal and theoretical training with rigorous practical application in multinational and cross-border environments. His extensive exposure to the legal and tax systems of leading global jurisdictions – including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia – gives him a strong comparative advantage in resolving complex tax planning and regulatory compliance challenges. Having begun his career at one of the leading international audit and advisory firms (Big Four), Mr. Ioannou joined STI Taxand as a Partner, guiding the firm to become today the largest law firm in Cyprus in tax matters. He is an active member of the global tax community, a regular guest speaker at international tax law conferences and the author of numerous scientific articles and studies, consistently republished by reputable forums in Europe and North America. On a personal level, he is married and the father of two children.
